[livejournal.com profile] jon_leonard and I went to see Toy Story 3 tonight. It was great! Highly recommended, although I think some of the scary parts may be a little too intense on the big screen for my kids. The 3D effects were not intrusive, but not worth the extra $4/ticket.

After getting home I made an angel food cake for [livejournal.com profile] patrissimo and [livejournal.com profile] choiceful's baby shower tomorrow. (Let me know if you need an invite.)

I'm not sure what I've been doing wrong with the angel food cakes lately. I used to be able to make them from scratch just fine following the Joy of Cooking directions. The last one I made was completely fallen, I knew it before I even put it in the oven, and this one isn't as bad, but is likely to yield 2 layers instead of the traditional 3.

Come to think of it, the last time I made cakes regularly was before I had kids, which was also before I had my Kitchen Aid mixer. I wonder if it's beating the whites too hard? Must experiment more.

Movie tickets: $20.50
Large box of Junior mints and a medium soda: $8
Babysitting for 4 hours: $20
Finally getting out to see a movie: priceless

We should do this more often. I finally joined a babysitting co-op, so perhaps we'll be able to do it a little more cheaply in the future. (In exchange for sitting other people's children.)
