My "new" watch
Aug. 4th, 2013 10:08 pmThe nice thing about men's products is that they just don't change just because. If there's a good product, the manufacturers keep making it, in part I'm sure, because men keep buying it. As the kind of person who doesn't like things to change unnecessarily, I wish they'd do this for women's products too.
I was delighted to find my wristwatch for sale at Amazon. I've worn this exact same model of wristwatch over 20 years, when my previous watch needed a new battery in 1990. I went to Longs to buy a battery, and discovered that the battery would cost me as much as this watch would. I bought this watch instead, and every time that it's needed replacing (every 3-5 years) I've been able to find the same model.
Once, I had trouble finding a replacement and tried a different watch, but I'm so used to how to program this one that I never took a liking to the other one. When it died I was able to find another favorite at Sears, and that time bought 3 of them. The last of those finally had one of the buttons stop responding, but luckily in modern times, one need only type the first few letters of name "Casio Electro Luminescence" into Google, make a few clicks of the mouse, and the watch appears on my doorstep 2 days later.

Nooooooo!!
May. 29th, 2013 10:07 pmNoooooooo!! My cry wells up from somewhere deep within my soul as I read:
These disappeared from local grocery store shelves years ago, so I started ordering from Amazon. Even with the auto-subscription, delivery was spotty and frequently months late. No other brand tastes "just like my mother used to make them" and there is no good substitute for this favorite dish.
