My mammogram call-back was clear, yay. The little black thing they measured about 6 times on the ultrasound was a lymph node.

The clinicians were very clinical. I suppose this is ok. If I have to choose between someone who looks me in the eye and chats about the Olympics or the weather but misses stuff, and someone who won't make eye contact and grunts in response to conversation, but has a reputation for finding cancers early, I'd rather the latter.

I post this as part of my series on feminism -- keeping "private" about body stuff that happens to women (like mammogram callbacks and miscarriages) only isolates and disempowers women when these common things occur.

I can hope I'm one of the 8 out of 9 who never gets breast cancer, but I appreciate the stories of the ones who do. The road less traveled doesn't have to be lonely. And it's a road because someone else has been there before.
