Bleach. It gets stuff clean.
May. 19th, 2012 08:55 pmChemistry is pretty awesome. I had about given up on Peter's (and now Amber's) favorite pair of sweat pants. Originally they were lime green, but they were comfy and thick, and great for sliding across the kitchen floor in. I'd been washing them in the pre-soak configuration with oxy-clean and extra heavy soil level, but they were still a dull shade of brown/grey over most of the pants, and you couldn't really tell they should have been green.
So this most recent time I just threw them in with the bleach load, figuring white was better than how they were. Wow! You can still tell they're old, but they're basically back to light green again. I thought bleach took the color out of things, not put it back in? How do the chemists do fabric dyes these days?
Better living through chemistry.
