Lessons from my kids: sometimes it pays to ask for what you want

My iRobot Roomba needs a new battery. I know I've got a coupon for 15% off and free shipping somewhere, from the last time I registered a robot, but I can't find it anywhere. I logged into the help chat, asked for a coupon code, and they just gave it to me -- no fuss. Cool. My former self would have spent a lot longer looking, and eventually given up and paid full price.

My kids are extremely good (one might even say too good) at asking for what they want directly. It's a bit annoying to be on the Mother side of that equation sometimes, but sometimes asking gets you farther in life and it's not a bad skill to cultivate.
