Someone is running for state senator in Kansas with a campaign that appeals to me. The link is a webcomic in XKCD-style about his campaign. Enjoy.

Haha, I'm tempted to donate. And I've never donated to a political campaign.

Why are you planning to vote for McCain?

Interesting.

Personally, I don't really see how being in a war translates to a qualification for the executive office. How does one experience relate to the other? It also worries me that he refers to Czechoslovakia as still in existence, and talks about the "Iraq-Pakistan border." I think someone who is aiming for the position of world leader needs to be a bit more well-informed about, well, the world.

That aside, his abysmal record on women's rights and environmental issues are enough to damn him in my eyes.

Also, someone who calls his wife a "cunt" does not deserve my approbation.

It would be nice to have an opposing party whose views I can respect, even if I disagree with them. That hasn't happened in my adult life.

Mostly, national politics is just depressing. I am so exhausted by the iniquities of the Bush administration, I can hardly think about them any more. I think Obama will have a hard, thankless job cleaning up after them, and I'm not convinced he'll get very far. It'll take so much to fix the damage.

Ok, that's simply brilliant. The sad shame of it is, that I'm so cynical that I think that he has no chance of winning, even though he's obviously got his head in the right place.

Either that, or whoever is running his campaign/advertising is a complete genius. This is the sort of thing that at once gives me hope, and brings up my cynicism. I want to believe someone running that sort of campaign can actually win an election. But I've lost so much faith that I doubt it could happen, with those views, in Kansas.

We should make him move to California. Here, he could win.

Possibly, but Kansas could certainly make better use of him if he does win. It's not California's school boards that are in danger of being taken over by Creationists.
