Ice skating is good for me too
Feb. 19th, 2008 09:10 pm3 weeks ago I started ice skating with Peter. Since then we've been going 2-4 times/week outside of the weekly classes. I usually hold him up most of the time and certainly feel as though I've had quite a workout when we're done.
My bathroom scale is starting to show the results of this workout.
After being stuck at exactly 139 since December 1st, and 141-142 since the end of September (I write it on the calendar most mornings above the bathroom scale), it was nice to see the numbers on the scale actually start to move again.
I've dropped about a pound a week since we started skating and this morning finally hit my upper-limit goal weight of 135. I think my ideal weight for my height and body type is about 130, and I'm still aiming toward that goal, but 135 is close enough for me to buy new pants, especially if the extra above 130 is muscle and not fat. My old pants are wearing out and I really need new ones, but I didn't want to buy them until I reached a decent weight.
For my own reference, my minimum weight between Peter and Amber was about 128, and I was 135 when I got pregnant with Amber.
I haven't changed my diet much lately, so I have to attribute exercise to the recent decline. I'm guessing that won't last forever though, as when I wean Amber there's no way I'll be able to keep eating like I do.
I think spending half an hour a day on the glider swing with Peter has also helped. Swinging can get exhausting after 20 minutes.
I like ice skating with Peter.
