I am enjoying the Olympic coverage tremendously this time. I only get TV once every 2 years for a month to watch the Olympics. It's a little sappy, but then again, what else would it be? I find myself routing for every athlete from every country. When the American snowboarder falls,
I'm simultaneously sad for her and thrilled for the people who get a chance they wouldn't otherwise have, unless she makes a mistake. I usually root for them all, but this time even more so. I liked how they re-broadcast the call in the home language of the skier who won the first winter Gold for his country, commenting "They were a little more excited with their call than we were." They're doing a good balance with the history of the athletes and the people who made the sports happen. I like the new sports.

I enjoyed the descriptions of how to do skeleton leading up to the competition, but got annoyed at the newscaster interviewing the American woman who came in 4th. Not only was she on the verge of tears after missing the podium by 0.06 secs and halfway down the 3rd place finisher's run, she thought she was going to have a medal, so she's extra disappointed. So he asks her about that, then he says, "and if your dead father who supported you so much were here now, what do you think he would say?" Dude, are you just trying to make her cry on camera for ratings? Show a little respect.

Of the last 12 years though, I like the coverage this time the best.
