I heard on the news in early May that the final concert at Candlestick park was going to be done by Paul McCartney this August. Unfortunately I didn't jump fast enough when tickets went on sale. I waited a few days and asked my parents if they wanted to go see the concert with me because of all the good times our family had watching Giants games there when I was a kid.
I could have bought tickets from scalpers for 2x face value, but I have a visceral "no" reaction to that. I'd rather not go than support the reselling-over-face-value industry. The website said to "check back regularly" because new seats sometimes open up.
I added it to the bookmarks I check every time I open up my browser, and after 6 weeks of near-daily visits, tickets were available today. I got 4 seats together in lower box 13, just a few rows back from where my dad's corporate season tickets were. They must have opened up a new box, because these are "no direct view of the stage" tickets, but presumably they will have a view of the video screens that always re-broadcast the close-ups. Tickets in the same section are selling for twice as much on Stubhub. This was the only section available on the official website.
